Pilgrim on the Hærvej


In 2010, the Hærvej was listed as a European cultural road in the European Council. The Hærvej links the pilgrims’ routes in Norway and Sweden with the southern European pilgrim roads.

Viborg Pilgrims´Centre


A perfect place to start for Military Road pilgrims is Viborg Pilgrims’ Centre, which has a strong focus on the Hærvej and which has a web site with many useful pilgrim links.

The Hærvej’s churches

 
There are many churches along the Hærvej, which were used as way markers and signposts by pilgrims through the centuries. Many of the churches have a holy spring close by, used by many of the visitors, who believed in its healing powers.
